 سبيل النجاة في الدنيا والآخرة
للإمام عبد العزيز بن باز رحمه الله

مقصود التعاون على البر التقوى، والتواصي بالحق، والله أخبر سبحانه عن عباده الرابحين الناجين السعداء أنهم يتواصون بالحق والصبر، فقال سبحانه: وَالْعَصْرِ ۝ إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ ۝ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ [العصر:1-3]، فأخبر سبحانه أن هؤلاء هم الرابحون، هم السعداء الذين اجتمع فيهم الصفات الأربع: الإيمان الصادق بالله ورسوله، ثم العمل الصالح، يعني: إيمان له ثمرة، إيمان أثمر وظهرت آثاره في أعمال الإنسان، فالإيمان بالقلب وحده ما يكفي، فلا بد من إيمان بالقلب مع إيمان الجوارح، يؤمن بقلبه ويعمل بجوارحه، فإذا آمن أن الصلاة حق يصلي، وإذا آمن أن الزكاة حق يزكي، وإذا آمن أن الصوم حق يصوم، وهكذا العمل من الإيمان، والقول من الإيمان، فالإيمان قول وعمل وعقيدة، والسعداء الرابحون هم الذين جمعوا بين الإيمان الصادق، والعمل الصالح، والتواصي بالحق، والتواصي بالصبر، هؤلاء هم الرابحون، هم السعداء لأنهم آمنوا بالله ورسوله إيمانا صادقًا، ووحدوا الله وصدقوا رسوله محمد عليه الصلاة والسلام، وصدقوا بأخبار الله ورسوله الثابتة، وأتبعوا هذا بالعمل، فأدوا فرائض الله، وتركوا محارم الله، وكفوا عنها، ثم تواصوا بالحق مع إخوانهم ........ تواصوا بالحق وتعاونوا على البر والتقوى، ودعوا إلى الله، وأمروا بالمعروف، ونهوا عن المنكر، ثم مع ذلك صبروا؛ لأن هذه الأمور ما تحصل إلا بالصبر، من أراد هذه الأمور دون صبر فقد رام المحال، لا بد من صبر، ولا بد من استعانة بالله في ذلك، تستعين بربك على هذه الأمور، وتشكره وتستعين به، وتجتهد بما أوجب الله عليك، وتنصح لله وتدعو إلى الله، وتأمر بالمعروف وتنهى عن المنكر، وتذكر بالله، وتصبر على ذلك، هذا فيه تعب لا شك أن فيه تعب ومشقة لكن طريق الجنة محفوف بالمشاكل بالشوك، حفت النار بالشهوات، وحفت الجنة بالمكاره.

فطريق الجنة فيه عقبات لا بد من تجاوزها بالصبر، وأعظمها هوى نفسك وشيطانك ودعاة السوء، هم أعظم العقبات: شيطان مزين، ونفس أمارة بالسوء، وأعوان مفسدون، وأصحاب مفسدون، وأخدان ضالون يجرونك ويضلونك، فلا بد من صبر على مخالفتهم، ولا بد من صبر على طاعة الرحمن، وعلى عصيان الشيطان، ولا بد من صبر لمخالفة الهوى، فالهوى ........ ويأخذ بصاحبه إلى النار، فلا يتم لك أمر السعادة إلا بالله، ثم بالحذر من الهوى والاستقامة على طريق الهدى، والصبر على ذلك، معلوم أن كون الإنسان يبادر بالصلوات الخمس في وقتها في الجماعة، ويحافظ عليها، ويدع أشغاله وقت الصلاة، ويدع النوم وقت الصلاة وغير ذلك، صعب على بعض النفوس لكن إذا روض نفسه وجاهدها صارت هذه الأعمال نعيمًا يجده في قلبه، وصارت نفسه مطية له في هذا، تطاوعه إذا روضها وجاهدها، فتكون بعد ذلك مطية ذلولًا تساعدك على طريق الخير؛ لأنك عودتها الخير، وروضتها، فإذا جاء وقت الصلاة نشط قلبك، وارتحت لحضورها، وبادرت بكل سرور وبكل راحة، وهكذا بقية الأعمال، وإذا تساهلت في ذلك وتهاونت في ذلك وأطعت النفس الأمارة بالسوء في الجلوس على الملاهي في التحدث مع الأصحاب في النوم وقت صلاة الفجر أو وقت صلاة العصر إلى غير ذلك لعب عليك الشيطان، وتكاثف الحجاب عليك، وعلى قلبك، واشتد الهوى، وعظم وضعفت الرغبة فيما عند الله، وصارت الصلاة ثقيلة وشديدة؛ لأن القلب قد وهن وضعف بطاعة الهوى والشيطان، وما زينه للعبد من التثاقل والتعلل بما يضر العبد من الرجاء، وقوله: إن الله غفور رحيم، إن الله عفو كريم، يحتج به على باطله وينسى قوله تعالى: نَبِّئْ عِبَادِي أَنِّي أَنَا الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ ۝ وَأَنَّ عَذَابِي هُوَ الْعَذَابُ الْأَلِيمُ [الحجر:49-50]، وينسى قوله تعالى: غَافِرِ الذَّنْبِ وَقَابِلِ التَّوْبِ شَدِيدِ الْعِقَابِ [غافر:3] فهو الغفور الرحيم لمن تاب إليه وأناب، وهو عظيم العقاب شديد العقاب عظيم الانتقام لمن تهاون في حقه، وتساهل، رزق الله الجميع التوفيق والهداية.


The Path to Salvation in This Life and the Hereafter

The intended meaning is cooperation upon righteousness and piety, and mutual exhortation to the truth. And Allah, Glorified be He, informed about His successful, saved, and happy servants (الرابحين الناجين السعداء) that they exhort one another to truth and patience. He, Glorified be He, said:

“By Al-Asr (the time). Verily! Man is in loss. Except those who believe and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth, and recommend one another to patience.”

So He, Glorified be He, informed that these are the successful ones, the happy ones (السعداء)—those in whom four qualities are combined:

  1. True faith in Allah and His Messenger
  2. Righteous deeds, meaning: faith that bears fruit—faith that has produced results and whose effects appear in the actions of the person
  3. Mutual exhortation to truth
  4. Mutual exhortation to patience

So faith in the heart alone is not sufficient. There must be faith in the heart along with faith of the limbs. He believes in his heart and acts with his limbs. If he believes that prayer is truth, he prays. If he believes that zakah is truth, he gives it. If he believes that fasting is truth, he fasts. And so, action is part of faith, and speech is part of faith. Faith is speech, action, and belief.

And the happy ones (السعداء الرابحون) are those who combine between true faith, righteous deeds, mutual exhortation to truth, and mutual exhortation to patience. These are the successful ones, the happy ones (السعداء)—because they believed in Allah and His Messenger with true faith, and they affirmed the oneness of Allah and believed in His Messenger Muhammad ﷺ, and believed in the authentic reports from Allah and His Messenger, and followed that with action: they fulfilled the obligations of Allah, and abandoned the prohibitions of Allah, and refrained from them.

Then they exhorted their brothers (تواصوا بالحق مع إخوانهم)… they exhorted their brothers to truth and cooperated upon righteousness and piety, and called to Allah, and enjoined what is right, and forbade what is wrong. Then, along with that, they were patient—because these matters are not attained except through patience. Whoever seeks these matters without patience has sought the impossible. There must be patience, and there must be seeking help from Allah in that. You seek help from your Lord in these matters, and you thank Him and seek His aid, and you strive in what Allah has obligated upon you, and you advise for the sake of Allah, and you call to Allah, and you enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and you remind others of Allah, and you are patient upon that.

This involves hardship—no doubt there is hardship and difficulty in it. But the path to Paradise is surrounded by hardships and thorns. The Hellfire is surrounded by desires, and Paradise is surrounded by disliked things.

The Path to Paradise Requires Patience

So the path to Paradise has obstacles that must be overcome with patience. The greatest of them are: the desires of your soul, your devil, and the callers to evil. These are the greatest obstacles—a devil who beautifies, a soul that commands evil, corrupt helpers, corrupt companions, and misguided close friends who pull you and mislead you. So there must be patience in opposing them, and patience in obedience to the Most Merciful, and in disobedience to the devil. And there must be patience in opposing desires—for desires… they drag their owner to the Hellfire.

So the matter of happiness is not completed for you except through Allah, then through caution against desires, and uprightness upon the path of guidance, and patience upon that. It is known that for a person to hasten to the five daily prayers in their times, in congregation, and to maintain them, and to leave off his occupations at the time of prayer, and to leave sleep at the time of prayer and other than that—this is difficult upon some souls. But if he trains his soul and strives against it, these actions become a delight that he finds in his heart. His soul becomes a mount for him in this path—it obeys him if he trains it and strives against it. So it becomes afterward a docile mount that helps you upon the path of goodness—because you have accustomed it to goodness and trained it.

So when the time of prayer comes, your heart becomes active, and you find comfort in attending it, and you hasten with joy and ease. And likewise with the rest of the deeds. But if you are negligent in that, and careless in that, and obey the soul that commands evil—by sitting in amusements, talking with companions, sleeping at the time of Fajr prayer or Asr prayer and other than that—then the devil plays with you, and the veil thickens upon you and upon your heart, and desire intensifies, and the longing for what is with Allah weakens, and prayer becomes heavy and difficult—because the heart has become weak through obedience to desire and the devil, and what he beautifies for the servant of laziness and excuses that harm him, such as saying: “Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful,” “Indeed, Allah is Pardoning and Generous.” He uses that as a proof for his falsehood and forgets the saying of Allah:

“Declare (O Muhammad ﷺ) unto My slaves, that truly, I am the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful. And that My Torment is indeed the most painful torment.”

And he forgets the saying of Allah:

“The Forgiver of sin, the Accepter of repentance, severe in punishment.”
(Surah Ghafir, 40:3 — Muhsin Khan translation)

So He is the Forgiving and Merciful to the one who repents to Him and returns. And He is severe in punishment, mighty in vengeance, to the one who is negligent in His right and careless.
